The public can vote for their favourite designs in the City’s popular Street Banner Contest from Tuesday, September 29 until Monday, October 12, 2020.
Entries in the 28th annual Street Banner Contest closed on Friday, September 18 with over 650 individual submissions received.
A judging panel of community volunteers has narrowed down the competition to 20 semi-finalists and it is now time for the public to vote for their favourite design.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s semi-finalists can be viewed here, exclusively on LetsTalkRichmond.ca.
Using LetsTalkRichmond.ca, the public can vote on their favourite designs by choosing up to 10 designs (one design from EACH theme) from the survey below.
The 10 designs, from EACH theme, that receive the most votes will be named the winners of the Annual Street Banner Contest and the designs will be showcased across Richmond.
All votes must be cast by 11:59pm PST on Monday, October 12.
This year’s submissions include a broad range of visual art forms – photography, digital art, painting, illustration, printmaking and mixed media collage. All submissions reflect themes representing the City of Richmond’s diverse beauty including:
Community
Connection
Wellness
Active Living

Over 1,000 street banners will be produced featuring the winning images and will be installed on street light poles to enhance the city’s spirit and beautify the downtown core and gateways from March 2021 to February 2022.
Richmond’s street banner contest is a part of the broader Partners for Beautification Program, which invites community members to become actively involved in the beautification of their city. For more information on this program, visit www.richmond.ca/parks/about/beautification.
