The Street Banner Contest concluded Sunday, October 17, 2021. The winning designs and all submissions will soon be posted on www.richmond.ca/banners. Thank you to everyone who participated.

The public can vote for their favourite designs in the City’s popular Street Banner Contest from Monday, September 27 until Sunday, October 17, 2021.

A judging panel of community volunteers has narrowed down the competition to 20 semi-finalists and it is now time for the public to vote for their favourite design.

  • Using LetsTalkRichmond.ca, the public can vote for their favourite designs by choosing up to 10 designs (one design from EACH theme) in the survey below.
  • The finalist designs will also be available for viewing on the street banner contest website and votes can be cast by emailing parksprograms@richmond.ca.
  • The 10 designs, from EACH theme, that receive the most votes will be named the winners of the Annual Street Banner Contest and the designs will be showcased across Richmond.

All votes must be cast by 11:59pm PST on Sunday, October 17.

Entries in the 29th annual Street Banner Contest closed on Friday, September 17 with over 500 individual submissions received. This year’s submissions include a broad range of visual art forms – photography, digital art, painting, illustration, printmaking and mixed media collage. All submissions reflect the following 10 themes representing the City of Richmond’s distinct charm: Innovation, Community, Connection, Wildlife, Active Living, Urban Landscape, Nature, Island City, The Arts and Sustainability.

Over 1,000 street banners will be produced featuring the winning images and will be installed on street light poles to enhance the city’s spirit and beautify the downtown core and gateways from March 2022 to February 2023.

Richmond’s street banner contest is a part of the broader Partners for Beautification Program, which invites community members to become actively involved in the beautification of their city. For more information on this program, visit www.richmond.ca/parks/about/beautification.
