Consultation has concluded
This project has concluded. It ran April 8 to April 24, 2022. Thank you to everyone who participated.
To show #RichmondHasHeart, we want to reconnect you to other residents and to your special public spaces in a unique, creative way that will enhance a sense of neighbourhood, community pride and belonging.
Sidewalk rain murals will be installed in each of Richmond's eight neighbourhoods and we'd like your help to create them. (Please see the map on the right to view the eight Richmond neighbourhoods.) Using a waterproof spray, the drawings will be invisible when dry, but will appear when wet.
Let us know what you love about your Richmond neighbourhood by completing a short survey. The information from the survey will be used as inspiration for our local artists to create the artwork. Your answers will also help determine the location of these sidewalk murals.
You even have the opportunity to submit your own artwork that could be used as a sidewalk design.
With so many possibilities, we would like to hear what makes you happy about your neighbourhood!
Take the survey - complete the short online survey below.
Submit your artwork (optional) - upload one photograph of a drawing or digital art that you would like to submit to be a sidewalk mural. If you only wish to submit artwork, please skip ahead to page 2 of the survey.
This survey:
will take 3 to 5 minutes to complete
is available until Sunday, April 24, 2022
The call for ideas and drawings is open to all ages and everyone who lives, works or plays in Richmond.
Things to think about when submitting your designs: (A tips sheet is available in the Documents section)
There needs to be a minimum two (2) inch clearance of text/images around each edge of your drawings/graphic design.
Bold, simple designs are encouraged as they are best for stencilling.
You are encouraged to consider how your designs fit into the specific Richmond neighbourhood you live in.
A mix of imagery and text can be used.
If text is included, letters should be at least 3/4" thick.
Please only submit drawings in black and white. As final designs will be turned into waterproof artwork, colour is not possible for this project.
Approved final designs/drawings will be printed up to 56” x 56” in size.
We will be placing the text #RichmondHasHeart on the lower right corner of the final design.
