This engagement has concluded. It ran September 7 to October 3, 2021. Thank you to everyone who participated.
We received lots of great ideas about how to reduce waste, and we are creating a Community Ideas Hub on the City website to share these ideas with our residents. Some ideas related to initiatives like the City’s ban on single-use plastic, as well as opportunities recycling and education, which we appreciate and will look at ways to apply them in City operations. We also noted that some ideas related to broader sustainability improvements such as water conservation, energy use and reducing carbon footprint, so we have shared them with the Richmond Sustainability team.
Share your ideas to help us all reduce waste
Thank you for checking out our Rethink Waste Think Tank. Richmond residents have shown for years that they support recycling and responsible waste management. Now we’re taking it to the next level by looking at how we can reduce waste even further by rethinking waste and changing our habits as part of supporting a circular economy.
We believe many of our residents have already taken steps to reduce their household waste, and we want to showcase their ideas by creating a Rethink Waste Ideas Hub.
We encourage you to share your ideas about how to reduce waste -- and be entered to win prizes.
Do you have better options instead of plastic cling wrap?
Where do you go to trade or sell used items?
What do you do to reduce reliance on single-use plastics?
What do you assess when you're making purchases?
How do you help to extend the use of household products?
What do you do to reduce food waste?
