Hello Richmond student,

Are you excited about investments in cycling that expand or enhance opportunities to ride your bike in the city?

We’re working on making bike riding safer and more fun in Richmond.

In the Phase 1 engagement, we asked you to share initial feedback such as suggestions for improvements and reasons for/against riding to school. Now we are looking for your help to prioritize different improvements.

Let us know what you think by:

  • Completing our survey
  • Sharing in discussions on the ideas board
  • Using the mapping tool to consider high priority routes

The survey, ideas board and mapping tool are open from November 1 to 30, 2021.

Thanks for your help!

Feel free to add your own ideas, or offer your thoughts on the following questions:

    1. What is your experience using electric mobility devices (e-scooters, e-bikes, e-skateboards, single-wheels, etc.)?
      • For what trip purposes do you usually use your device?
      • Do you feel safe on these devices on roads and bike lanes?
    2. The City recently updated its bylaws to establish a 15 km/h speed limit on pathways shared with pedestrian (e.g. Railway Greenway, West Dyke trail).
      • What are your views on this change?
      • What is your experience on shared paths and trails with people walking, cycling and using electric mobility devices in the same space?
    3. What are your attitudes and suggestions regarding the sharing of trails between pedestrians and electric mobility devices?
    4. We have received several requests to establish a "Tour de Richmond" (defined cycling route around the City of Richmond) via signage, marketing, etc.
      • What do you think of this idea?
      • What destinations in Richmond do you like to visit while riding your bike (e.g. parks, viewpoints, restaurants, cafes, stores, etc.)?
    5. For parents and guardians of children in elementary or secondary school, what measures have been successful in encouraging your children to walk and roll to school?
      • What improvements would encourage you to support your children in walking and riding to school more often?
