What's happening?
The City of Richmond is updating the East Richmond Agricultural Water Supply Study to identify potential upgrades to improve drainage and irrigation system performance in East Richmond.
The study is intended to:
- Identify changes in land use and crop types
- Incorporate recent climate data
- Include recent irrigation and drainage system upgrades
- Identify potential areas of improvement for irrigation and drainage system upgrades
- Inform the City’s infrastructure capital planning
The study area encompasses a portion of the Agricultural Land Reserve and consists of approximately 3,918 hectares, of which 1,994 hectares (51%) is used for crop production. Crops grown include cranberries, blueberries, vegetables, corn and various forage crops.
How you can participate
There are various opportunities for residents to provide feedback on the East Richmond Agricultural Water Supply Study:
- Online: Complete the short survey below.
- Mark the map: Add a marker below to describe successes, concerns or other relevant feedback.
- In-person: Drop by the open house from 6:00 to 9:00pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Hamilton Community Centre (5140 Smith Drive).
- Submit paper survey: By mail or drop off in person at City Hall (6911 No 3 Road)
Deadline: All feedback must be submitted by Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
