Building the Steveston Park Legacy Walk together

Steveston Community Park, in historic Steveston Village, honours the history of the Japanese Canadian community through landmarks like the Cultural Centre, Martial Arts Centre and Nikkei Memorial Garden.

In 2024, the Steveston Community Society received a grant from the Japanese Canadian Legacies Society to create the Steveston Park Legacy Walk. This project will share Japanese Canadian history while upgrading the park’s north-south pathway.

The goals include:

  • adding interpretive signage with digital content;
  • improving accessibility and safety; and
  • integrating a unified palette of paving, planting and wayfinding elements.
