Angled parking pilot project coming to Chatham Street
The City is launching a pilot project for angled parking on Chatham Street, from Fourth Avenue to Sixth Avenue. The goal? To increase parking and support local businesses and visitors in the area. We would like your input.
📍 What’s happening?
In late-July 2025, the City will convert the existing parallel parking stalls along Chatham Street between Fourth Ave and Sixth Ave into angled parking stalls.
Throughout the pilot, our Transportation Department will closely monitor how the angled parking performs. We will consider factors like safety, traffic flow, and ease of use to help with future decisions.
🚗 More parking for everyone
Switching to angled parking is expected to add 17 new stalls, bringing the total number of stalls on this stretch from 32 to 49. This responds to feedback we heard through the Steveston Streetscape Vision 2024 project regarding the demand for more parking in the Steveston area.
