The City will be holding 2 drop-in style open houses where City staff will be available to discuss the Flood Protection Management Strategy 2019 and answer questions. See the Important Dates section on this web page for the dates, times, and locations.
Background
The 2008-2031 Richmond Flood Protection Strategy (2008 Strategy) is a high-level guidance document for management of flood risk in the City of Richmond. Since Council's endorsement of the 2008 Strategy, Staff have implemented flood protection updates in policy, partnered with the Provincial and Federal government to secure funding, completed Dike Master Plans in anticipation of climate change induced sea level rise, and constructed drainage and dike upgrades in priority locations.
The 2008 Strategy recommends periodic review to incorporate new information on flood hazard management. It is being revisited to address current climate change science, provide long-term flood mitigation planning, and update the goals for future work in Richmond's flood protection program.
All feedback received will be considered in a final report to Council.
Thank you and let's get started.
