This project has concluded. It ran May 18 to June 7, 2022. Thank you to everyone who participated.

Welcome!

As the City of Richmond progresses through the character design phase of the new Steveston Community Centre and Branch Library, it is offering a number of opportunities for the public to learn about the building’s exterior character.

Background

The replacement of the Steveston Community Centre and Branch Library was identified by Richmond City Council as a priority major facility project for the period of 2016-2026. Council has approved the program, site location and floor plans for the new facility, as well as a budget of $90 million to complete the design and construction of the facility. Development of the character design is the next major step in the facility’s development.

The proposed character design builds upon earlier engagement and feedback from the public and stakeholders. The new facility will serve the community into the future supporting the physical, wellness, life-long learning, and creative needs of those who live, work and play in Steveston and surrounding neighborhoods.

Steveston Community Centre and Branch Library Proposed Exterior Design

Fundamental to the character design process is an extensive public engagement program to ensure the exterior of the building best meets the current and future needs of the community.

Please spend a few minutes reviewing the adjacent story boards, provided in downloadable PDF documents, which guide you through the guiding principles, site context, inspiration photos, proposed renderings, and sustainability statement.
